Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what type of services I need

Clients come to us for many different reasons, we offer two different types of services, Therapy and Assessments. If you would like some help in knowing what service you might be after, please get in touch

Is there a waiting time for appointments

We usually have a waiting list period of up to 6-8 weeks, please get in touch and we’ll let you know our current availability

Preparing for a first appointment

  • When booking your appointment, we will send you online intake forms to complete before your appointment.

  • If you have been referred by an Allied Health practitioner (such as a GP) we will usually have your Referral and MHCP on file, however you may be asked to bring this with you.

  • It is common when meeting your psychologist for the first time to feel nervous and unsure about what to expect. Writing down a few notes to bring with you can help. Think about what you hope to get from therapy, how you have been feeling, what you may have tried to feel better, and the names of any medications you are taking

  • You will receive a confirmation phone call the day before your appointment.

When you arrive for your first appointment

Our office is located Upstairs at 68 Castlereagh Street Coonamble. Enter through the gate located on the side of the Bank building, follow to front door, enter and climb stairs to the couched area, where you can wait for Steph.

What happens in the first appointment

  • First sessions are for you to get to know your clinician and to feel comfortable. Stephanie also wants to get to know you and understand the difficulties you have been experiencing. You will be able to ask any questions you have about therapy moving forward.

  • We understand it can be tough to be open and honest with someone you do not know, and hope this becomes easier as trust develops overtime. Sessions will go at your pace and will involve your input.

Confidentiality

It is common to be concerned about confidentiality. Your information will always remain confidential within our Practice, unless:

  • You give consent to your information being shared to specific people.

  • We need to share information to keep you or someone else safe (i.e., if there is a significant risk of harm).

  • The information is subpoenaed by a court.

  • This will all be discussed with you in the first session.

Bulk billing

We are not a bulk billing Practice

Medicare Rebates

Once we have received your mental health care plan referral you are able to have access to the Medicare Rebate. We do not process the rebate for you, it is a Clients responsibility to lodge a claim with Medicare online or in person.

Fees

Cost for consults and assessments vary depending on the service you require. These are discussed with you when you make an enquiry.
